G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè (/ˈkɪfa/ /ˈp˔ɪja/ [wrong; false] [cork]) is a subtropical Town located in the Mèhcebî Zone of the Union of Engineers.

The name G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè was founded by Zelêj Trêgë, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Climate

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè has a yearly average temperature of 22°C (71°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 26°C (78°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 18°C (64°F). G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè receives an average of 256 cm/y (100 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 9396 m (-12122 ft) above sea level.

Overview

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè was founded durring the early 16th century in winter of the year 1549, by Zelêj Trêgë. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the early 16th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè is buildings are built arround a single restrictive paverstone mainstreet which forms a counterclockwise spiral to give the town a over all circular shape. The town is the proud owner of a thick set of fortified walls fashioned from querried stone blocks. While not up to snuff for a fort or castle wall, the town's walls are naturaly much larger than those of forts or castles. Therefore, the construction such a wall is most expencive. G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè's buget focused wall would serve its community well in battle in spite of looking unimpressive compared to castles and fortresses. The top tier civilian fortifications have not been wellmaintained over the years, and while functional are in dire need of some loving care and perhapse light renovation.

A look around G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring jsut long enough for it to be uncomfortable. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to place their homes.

Civic Infrastructure

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè has an animal control department which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the control, impoundment, and disposition of animals.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè's parks.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè's natural decorations nor waterways.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

The locals are convinced that there is some terrible threat against them working from within their society. It may be a matter of dark sorcerers, foreign spies, traitorous neighbors, shape shifting monsters, or some other hidden evil. This evil may be a recent fear, or it may be an inherited peril they’ve always had to guard against. The danger itself may or may not exist, or if it exists it may not justify the steps being taken.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known for its buildings being predominantly formed through the combination of basic geometric shapes. However, it shown in the detailing given to the structures such as its characteristic tall columns, intricate detail, symmetry, harmony, and balance in their designs to an astonishing degree of precision. Decorative elements for the buildings tended to be built into the structure itself, making great use of fluting, frescoes, inlays, and embossing.

Due to the actions of local Kami, summer is short in G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè.

The Dlurgraven near G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè are known to be quite timid.

G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves orgies to channel Wild Magic energies of tier 1 via speaking in tongues.

Rather than repairing them correctly, a series of new roads was laid atop the old, leading to the streets of modern G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè suffering from potholes, cracking, and even sinkholes. The locals often repair the road by putting down wooden decking.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century the Kami ended a famine plaguing G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè. One of G̈lë-píîya Dêtîkè's local festivals commemorates this miracle.
